Captain Gregory Alexander Damien Fox has been in the aviation business for over 50 years. He started his aviation career at age 17 when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, later known as the Canadian Armed Forces. There he served on military antisubmarine patrols on the North Atlantic in the 1960’s, flew military and commercial passenger and cargo operations and SAR operations, and served for two and one half years as the first chief pilot for the Canadian Coast Guard West Coast Environmental surveillance program.

He came to the Caribbean in 1996 on leave of absence for a ten (10) month contract working as a flight operations consultant with Airbus Industrie in 1996 and was tasked with assisting the Jamaica CAA to achieve IASA Category 1. That taste of the Caribbean was too brief, and Greg remained, making his home in Jamaica and serving as the first Director Flight Safety for the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority. In 2002 he was appointed the first Coordinator for the Association of Civil Aviation Authorities of the Caribbean- Regional Aviation Safety Oversight System Office.

In 2011 he was appointed as the first CEO of the Caribbean Aviation Safety and Security Oversight System (CASSOS). He represented CASSOS on the ICAO Regional Aviation Safety Group Executive Steering Committee (RASG-ESC) and Pan- Americas Regional Aviation Safety Team (PA-RAST) for the past three years and in numerous seminars, workshops and meetings. In May 2014 he completed his Master of Science in Aviation Safety with Florida Institute of Technology.

He has left CASSOS to pursue a PhD in Aviation Safety and has been appointed Director of Safety and Assistant Professor (part-time) in the College of Aeronautics. Captain Greg is a world citizen, holding British, Canadian and Jamaican citizenship, with preference going to the place with the best weather.

We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
